My name is Ling Hao (David) Meng. I’m a student that went through a lot of different programs before settling on Studio Arts. I don’t think that I’m a particularly special artist in any sort of way as I find myself pretty mediocre compared to other artists, but one thing that I do know is that just like my journey through the programs, my art style has changed quite a lot. However, despite the changes throughout the years, I’ve stuck with one material and technique in particular, and that is drawing on paper. There’s something special that is quite hard to put into words about this special feeling that you feel once your pencil touches this surface, it’s as if it’s natural and that it feels right in some sort of way. Concerning how I create art, I’m not as creative as it appears as I’m mostly just using reference images when I’m drawing instead of coming up with ideas. But I do think that by doing so, it made me quite detail oriented as I’ll try to capture every single small detail that is present in those reference images. Furthermore, one thing that makes my art kinda stand out from others is the lack of colors as I consider color theory one of my biggest weaknesses. 

But in the end, art is made to be enjoyed. It doesn’t matter if you’re not Picasso or Da Vinci, as long as you’re enjoying the process of creation, then you’re having fun making art.
